RACE FOR EDUCATION "FACTSHEET

•  Are you interested in helping your school raise money for computers, software, scholarships, playground apparatus, science equipment, library resources, and other essential educational materials?

•  Would you like to be involved in a program that has successfully raised between $100 and $200 per student?

•  Would your school families be willing to give a maximum of just two hours to help your school raise that much money?
•  Race for Education is an annual jog-a-thon, which involves students walking and/or jogging around a quarter-mile area for one hour.

•  The success of Race for Education is based on students bringing in the names of people who are potential sponsors for the jog-a-thon.

•  However, there is no "house-to-house" sign-up of potential sponsors. It is all done by filling in a label sheet of names. For every 15 names that a student brings in, your school will receive at least $100 in contributions.
•  Potential sponsors may be family members, relatives, close friends, and neighbors. Special emphasis should be placed on out-of-state relatives and friends. Also, the people you do business with are a great source of names, i.e., barber, dentist, doctor, piano teacher, etc.
•  "Kick-off information about Race for Education is provided and sent home with each student seven weeks in advance of the jog-a-thon.
•  There are incentives and prizes to help promote the success of Race for Education. However, unlike most fundraisers, the prizes are low cost, yet they are great motivators (i.e., Snack Cards, Ice Cream Cards, Dress Down Day Cards, Homework Passes, & Lunch Cards}.
•  So, if you are tired of the usual "exchange fundraisers" that require students to go door-to-door selling magazines, candy bars, wrapping paper, or citrus, then consider Race for Education. It is great fun for the students, no hassle to their parents, and fully benefits your school's educational program!
