Tuition Structure 2009 - 2010
 
     
 

 

1•  Active Tuition: Recognizes participation in Parish School activities by awarding credits for the

     activities noted below.  Credit thresholds must be met by March 31 to be eligible for Active Tuition.

 

2•  In-Active Tuition: Recognizes no or limited participation in parish school activities.

3•  Credit Thresholds, Credit Structure and Examples:

Provide 15 valid names for the Race for Education (mandatory for each Active Tuition family)

    10 Each hour of documented eligible service. The School Office establishes eligible services and
determines service hours available. Examples include
   
     

   a. Classroom Representative
   b. Classroom volunteer
   c. Lunch room monitor
   d. Playground monitor
   e. HSO member & officer
   f.  School Board member & officer  
   g. Fundraising volunteer
   h. Scrip sales volunteer

    i. Club Moderator

   
    10 Baked goods    
     ? Donated auction items are given credit equal to the
sale value (i.e. ball game tickets are sold for $50, donor receives 50 credits).

   
         
       
   

Administrative
1. The School Office establishes eligible services and available service
     hours (i.e. Classroom Representative: Sep - Jun or 10 months, 1
     hour/month or 10 credits/month, 10 hours x 10 credits/hour = 100
     credits).


2. Services are filled on a first come - first served basis.

3. The School Office maintains the master list of service hours and
    earned credits (i.e. Raffle Tickets sold, service hours worked etc.).
    Periodic reconciliation to occur throughout the school year.

4. Active Tuition participants pay In-Active Tuition July - March. Why?
    Concern for meeting credit thresholds by March 31. If not met, the
    tuition structure is converted to In-Active, and the April In-Active
    Tuition payment becomes due.

5. Active Tuition participants must achieve established credit thresholds
    by Mar 31 to be eligible for the Active Tuition.

6. NO partially reduced tuition if fewer credits than the established credit
    thresholds are earned.

7. Credits can be earned from July thru March.

8. Credits are redeemed through refunds or reduced tuition payments in
    April.

   
       
 

4. Examples:
    A. "Parishioner" of St. Andrew the Apostle (or a parishioner of a participating

         parish) with one student electing Active Tuition.


         i. Parishioner Active Tuition for one student is $2,604 or
            $260/month (10 payments, July - April),

        ii. Parishioner In-Active Tuition for one student is $2,884 or $288/month

            (10 payments),

       iii. The Parishioner pays $288/month from July thru Mar, or $2,592

            ($288 x 9 months), 

        iv. The Parishioner earns the required credits for a single student
             by March 31 and qualifies for Active Tuition,

         v. In April (the 10th and final payment), their balance reflects a small payment for                             the difference between the In-Active Tuition paid for 9 months and Active Tuition

            due for one year. The following refers:
                                    Paid:                                  $2,592 ($288 x 9 months)
                                    Due:                                   $2,604 (annual tuition)
                                    Balance:                            $12 (April payment)
                                    Net effect:                          $280 savings (In-Active: $2,884 -
                                                                                Active: $2604; $2,592+12)

   
 

B. "Other" with one student electing Active Tuition.


          i. Other Active Tuition for one student is $3,493 or $349/month
             (10 payments, July - April), ii. Other In-Active Tuition for one student is $3,773 or
             $377/month (10 payments),

        

          iii. Others pay $377/month from July thru Mar, or $3,393 ($377 x 9 months),

          iv. They earn the required credits for a single student by March 31 and qualify for Active                Tuition, 

           v. In April (the 10th and final payment), their balance reflects a small payment for the

               difference between the In-Active Tuition paid for 9 months and Active Tuition due for one

               year.  The following refers:
                                    Paid:                                   $3,393 ($377 x 9 months)
                                    Due:                                    $3,493 (annual tuition)
                                    Balance:                             $100 (April payment)
                                    Net effect:                           $280 savings (In-Active: $3,773 -
                                    Active:                                 $3,493; $3,393+100)

 

   
 

C. Parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle (or a parishioner of a participating parish) with one                student electing In-Active Tuition.

     i. Parishioner In-Active Tuition for one student is $2,884 or $288/month (10 payments, July -               April),

    ii. The Parishioner pays $288/month from July thru April, or $2,884 ($288 x 10 months),

   iii. Parishioner is not expected to participate in Parish School
        fundraising and volunteer activities.
